Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is set to appear before Parliament today, Thursday, July 23, to present the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, a key assessment of Ghana’s economic progress and the government’s plans for the second half of the year.

The presentation will provide an update on how the economy has performed against the targets outlined in the 2026 Budget, which focused on restoring economic stability, strengthening fiscal management and creating conditions for sustainable growth.

Ahead of the review, government has pointed to positive economic trends, including a decline in inflation to 5.3 per cent, improved fiscal consolidation efforts, better external sector performance and progress in managing the country’s debt situation.

Dr Ato Forson is expected to highlight developments in revenue collection, government spending, debt management strategies and financing arrangements as the administration works to maintain economic stability.

Unlike previous budget reviews that introduced new fiscal measures, expectations are that this year’s mid-year statement will focus mainly on strengthening existing policies, with no major new taxes anticipated.

The Finance Minister is also expected to update lawmakers on Ghana’s planned transition from the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Extended Credit Facility programme to the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), which is expected to support economic reforms beyond the current IMF arrangement.

The review comes at a time when businesses, investors and development partners are closely watching government’s next steps on inflation control, interest rates, exchange rate stability and spending priorities.

The statement is expected to give a clearer picture of Ghana’s economic direction for the remainder of 2026 and the government’s strategy to balance growth with fiscal discipline.
