Abankwah-Yeboah tells NPP to reorganise as he urges Ghanaians to judge NDC over time

New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice-Chairman aspirant George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah has called on the party to focus on rebuilding and reorganising its structures rather than rushing to attack the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking during an interview with Citi TV journalist Umaru Sanda, Abankwah-Yeboah was asked what was so wrong with the current NDC government that should make Ghanaians consider returning the NPP to power in 2028.

In response, the NPP contender appeared to shift the focus from immediate criticism of the government to the need for the party to put its own house in order.

According to him, the NPP must concentrate on reorganising itself and strengthening its structures while allowing Ghanaians enough time to assess the performance of the NDC administration.

His position suggests that the party’s path back to power should begin with internal renewal rather than simply relying on dissatisfaction with the government.

Abankwah-Yeboah’s comments come at a time when the NPP is looking ahead to the 2028 elections and confronting the task of rebuilding the party after its defeat at the polls.

The First Vice-Chairman aspirant’s message is clear: the NPP must first fix and reposition itself, while voters are given the opportunity to make their own judgment about the NDC’s performance in government.

With the 2028 contest already beginning to shape political conversations, Abankwah-Yeboah’s remarks could fuel further debate within the NPP over whether the party’s comeback strategy should focus more heavily on internal reorganisation than attacks on the governing party.

For now, his call is for patience, reorganisation and a renewed focus on rebuilding the NPP as Ghanaians continue to watch and assess the NDC government’s performance.
