Davido Says Wife Chioma Manages His Money Because He’s a ‘Reckless Spender

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has disclosed that his wife, Chioma Rowland, is responsible for managing his finances because he considers himself a reckless spender who cannot be trusted with money.

The award-winning singer made the revelation while arriving in Ghana with members of his team during a livestream hosted by Nigerian streamer Davrel on June 15, 2026.

During the livestream, Davido was seen speaking to Chioma over the phone, asking her to transfer $4,000 to his longtime aide, Lati, after he was unable to access his bank account.

On the call, the singer affectionately said:

“Good morning, my love. Please help me send Lati $4,000. I can’t log in and I don’t know why. I love you.”

The conversation sparked curiosity among viewers, many of whom wondered why Davido had to rely on his wife to authorize the transaction instead of handling it himself.

Explaining the situation, the Afrobeats star said Chioma oversees all his finances because he knows he has poor spending habits and prefers to have someone he trusts manage his money.

According to Davido, he intentionally handed over control of his finances to his wife because he does not trust himself to make responsible financial decisions.

“My wife manages my money. I’m a reckless spender, so she’s the one who arranges everything. She’s my life coordinator and I don’t play when it comes to her,” he said.
