Gabby Otchere-Darko Commends Shatta Wale’s Unity Message, Calls for End to Stonebwoy Rivalry
Gabby Otchere-Darko has applauded Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale for his recent message promoting peace and unity with fellow musician Stonebwoy, describing the gesture as an act of maturity, class, and patriotism.
His comments followed remarks by Shatta Wale, who revealed that he had planned to publicly urge fans to stop fighting over him and Stonebwoy and instead support Stonebwoy’s event.
“Yesterday, it was my plan to tell people to stop fighting about Stonebwoy and me and go and support his show,” Shatta Wale said.
Reacting to the statement on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Gabby Otchere-Darko praised the award-winning musician for demonstrating leadership at a time when many fans continue to fuel rivalry between the two camps.
“This is class. This is maturity. This is patriotism,” he wrote.
Gabby also reminded fans that the spirit of support between the two artistes has been evident before. He recalled that when Shatta Fest UK was cancelled over crowd safety concerns, Stonebwoy publicly expressed solidarity with Shatta Wale rather than celebrating the setback.
According to Gabby, Ghanaian musicians should focus on competing on the global stage instead of against one another.
He argued that the real challenge lies beyond Ghana’s borders and stressed that if one Ghanaian artiste achieves international success on the level of Nigerian stars such as Davido or Burna Boy, the entire Ghanaian music industry would benefit.
“The real competition is out there, not between ourselves,” he stated.
Gabby further noted that the breakthrough of one globally successful Ghanaian artiste would create opportunities for many others by drawing greater international attention to Ghana’s music industry.
Calling for an end to the long-running rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, he described both musicians as outstanding ambassadors for Ghanaian music whose collaboration and mutual support would serve the country’s entertainment industry far better than division.
“When they win, Ghana wins. Let them move forward together,” he concluded.
