The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast widespread cloudiness, intermittent rainfall, and thunderstorms across several parts of Ghana today, urging the public to prepare for changing weather conditions throughout the day.
In its latest 18-hour weather outlook, GMet said light to moderate rain will affect portions of the coastline during the morning, with some communities in the Oti Region also expected to experience showers. The rainfall is likely to continue intermittently in many coastal areas into the afternoon and evening.
The agency said much of the country will wake up to cloudy skies, while mist and patches of fog are expected over forested and mountainous areas during the early hours. These conditions could reduce visibility on major roads, particularly in highland and forest zones, and motorists are advised to drive with extra caution.

As temperatures rise later in the day, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected to develop across the middle belt, transition zone and northern parts of the country. GMet forecasts that the storms will become more widespread from late afternoon and continue into the evening.
Although the agency’s impact-based forecast indicates that weather-related risks remain generally low nationwide, some coastal locations, especially in the Greater Accra and Volta regions, could experience moderate impacts as intermittent rainfall persists. Similar conditions are expected in parts of the middle belt later in the day.
Despite the rainy weather, temperatures are expected to remain relatively warm. Coastal areas will record minimum temperatures of about 23°C and maximum temperatures of around 30°C. The forest and transition zones are forecast to experience temperatures between 22°C and 33°C, while northern Ghana is expected to be the hottest part of the country, with temperatures ranging from 25°C in the morning to a high of 34°C during the afternoon.

Residents of Accra are expected to experience light morning showers, followed by increased rainfall during the afternoon before conditions ease into light rain under mostly cloudy skies in the evening. Similar weather is forecast for Tema, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi and Axim, where periods of rainfall are expected throughout the day.

In the forest belt, including Kumasi, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Goaso, morning mist is expected before giving way to cloudy conditions or thunderstorms later in the day. Across northern Ghana, cities such as Tamale, Yendi, Wa, Bolgatanga, Bole and Nalerigu are likely to remain mostly cloudy during the morning, with thunderstorms expected to become more widespread in the afternoon and evening.
GMet has also warned that sea conditions will remain rough and has advised fishermen, coastal residents and all marine users to exercise caution. The agency encouraged the public to monitor official weather updates and take into account expected rainfall, poor visibility, and possible thunderstorms when planning travel and outdoor activities today.
