NACOC Arrests 10 Koforidua Technical University Students Over Alleged Cannabis-Infused Products Sale

NACOC arrests 10 Koforidua Technical University students after an intelligence-led operation uncovered the alleged production and sale of cannabis-infused drinks and ice creams during the institution’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Hall Week celebrations.

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) arrested 10 students of Koforidua Technical University for allegedly producing, distributing and selling cannabis-infused products on campus.

The operation was carried out during the SRC Hall Week celebrations held from Friday, July 31, to Saturday, August 1, 2026, following intelligence gathered by the Commission.

According to NACOC, the operation resulted in the arrest of the suspected ringleader, 23-year-old Priscilla Tetteh, together with nine other young men believed to be members of a network involved in the production, distribution and sale of cannabis-infused drinks and ice creams.

The suspects were reportedly arrested while allegedly selling the products to students and patrons attending the campus event.

Preliminary investigations by the Commission indicate that the group had established an organised operation to distribute cannabis-infused edible products on campus. NACOC said the alleged activities pose a serious threat to public health and the safety of young people.

The Commission stressed that the production, possession, distribution and sale of food, beverages and other edible products containing controlled substances remain illegal under Ghanaian law. It warned that anyone found engaging in such activities will face the full force of the law.

NACOC also expressed concern over what it described as the growing trend of young people commercialising narcotic substances under the guise of entertainment and entrepreneurship.

The Commission called on parents, university authorities, student leaders and the general public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected drug-related activities to help safeguard educational institutions and communities from substance abuse.

NACOC confirmed that all 10 suspects remain in its custody and will be processed in accordance with the law. The Commission added that it will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations across the country to identify, disrupt and dismantle networks involved in narcotics production and trafficking.
