NDC Suspends Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare for Five Months

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended Mr. Stephen Ofosu Agyare from his position as Constituency Chairman of the Awutu Senya East Constituency for a period of five (5) months, effective immediately.

The suspension was communicated in an official letter dated 22nd July 2026, signed by the party’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and issued from the NDC National Secretariat (Jerry John Rawlings House) in Accra.

According to the letter, the decision was taken by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) at its meeting held on 21st July 2026, after considering a petition lodged against Mr. Ofosu Agyare by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor.

The FEC also reviewed recommendations submitted by the Central Regional Council of Elders, contained in a letter referenced COC/CR/001, dated 20th July 2026.

Following extensive deliberations, the committee concluded that there was sufficient basis to invoke Article 48(4) and Article 48(6) of the NDC Constitution.

As part of the disciplinary action, Mr. Ofosu Agyare has been directed to immediately cease performing any duties or exercising any authority as Constituency Chairman throughout the five-month suspension.

The matter has also been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and any additional action deemed appropriate under the party’s constitution. The suspension will remain in force until the matter is finally determined or otherwise directed by the party.

The NDC further indicated that copies of the petition submitted by the Awutu Senya East MP and the report from the Central Regional Council of Elders were attached to the suspension letter.

The party urged Mr. Ofosu Agyare to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves while the disciplinary process is ongoing.
