NPP Clears All 47 Aspirants for 2026 National Officers Election — Showdown Set for September 9
No Aspirant Disqualified as Vetting Committee Gives Green Light to All Contestants Across Nine Key Positions
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cleared the way for a major showdown in its 2026 National Officers Elections, with all 47 aspirants who underwent vetting declared eligible to contest.
The development follows the successful completion of the vetting exercise conducted by the National Officers Election Vetting Committee (NOEVC) between August 31 and September 3, 2026.
In a press statement dated September 5, 2026, the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) announced that the vetting process had been successfully concluded after a detailed examination of the aspirants’ documentation, interactions with the committee and applicable eligibility requirements.
All 47 Aspirants Survive Vetting
In what could set the stage for a fiercely contested internal election, the NOEC said the Vetting Committee had recommended all 47 aspirants who appeared before it as suitable and eligible to contest the respective positions for which they filed their nominations.
The committee subsequently cleared all 47 aspirants to proceed, subject to the rules governing the elections.
The cleared aspirants are competing across nine national officer positions, with the following distribution:

13-Way Battle for National Vice-Chairperson
The position attracting the largest number of contenders is National Vice-Chairperson, with 13 aspirants cleared to contest.
The National Organiser position follows with eight contenders, while six aspirants have been cleared for National Youth Organiser.
Five candidates will battle for the National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser position.
The National Chairman, General Secretary and National Treasurer positions each have four aspirants, while two aspirants are contesting the National Women’s Organiser position.
The National Communications Director position has attracted only one cleared aspirant.
Ballot Day Locked In
With the vetting hurdle now cleared, the NPP is moving into the next critical phase of the electoral process: balloting.
According to the NOEC, balloting for positions on the ballot paper will take place on:

The committee said the specific times for balloting for each position will be communicated directly to the aspirants.
Aspirants will be required to participate in the balloting process either in person or through duly authorised representatives.
The Race Now Moves to the Next Stage
The unanimous clearance of all 47 aspirants means there will be no major vetting casualty as the party prepares for its national officers elections.
Attention now shifts from eligibility to the actual electoral contest, with aspirants expected to intensify their mobilisation and campaign efforts ahead of the party’s decisive internal battle.
For the NPP, the September 9 balloting exercise will determine the order in which the contenders appear on the ballot paper—adding another crucial layer to an already closely watched national officers election.
The vetting is over. All 47 are in. The next battle is the ballot.
