Parliament Approves Ayariga and Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Ministers

Parliament has approved the nominations of Mahama Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to serve in key ministerial positions under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Mr Ayariga has been approved as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, while Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings will serve as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.

The two nominees appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27, where they underwent scrutiny over their qualifications, experience and suitability for the respective portfolios.

Mr Ayariga, a former Majority Leader and Chairman of Parliament’s Business Committee, brings extensive parliamentary and political experience to his new assignment. His ministry will oversee matters involving local governance, chieftaincy institutions and religious affairs.

Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, has also been cleared to lead the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology. She is expected to focus on environmental protection, scientific research, technological development and sustainable development initiatives.

Following the vetting, the Appointments Committee recommended both nominees for approval. The recommendations were subsequently presented to the House, which approved them.

The parliamentary endorsement clears the way for Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings to formally assume their respective ministerial responsibilities as the Mahama administration continues efforts to strengthen its government and advance its policy agenda.
