“We All Need a Sarkodie in Our Lives” – Ernest Adu Kumi Praises Rapper for Supporting Young Artists
Media personality Ernest Adu Kumi has applauded Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie for consistently supporting emerging talents in the music industry, describing him as the kind of person everyone needs in their life.
Speaking on Hitz FM while reacting to Kweku Smoke’s recent gratitude message to Sarkodie, Ernest Adu Kumi said the award-winning rapper deserves recognition for believing in young musicians and helping them grow their careers.
Although he briefly touched on ongoing discussions surrounding Kweku Smoke’s comments, Ernest said his main focus was on the positive impact Sarkodie has had on upcoming artists.
“Showing gratitude is good, but I’m praying that it wouldn’t incriminate him in the process because the FBI has not stopped. They are still on it, and whoever they find culpable, they’ll deal with that person,” he said.
He quickly shifted attention to Sarkodie’s mentorship, stressing that every talented individual needs someone who believes in them and helps them succeed.
“The most important thing is that we all need a Sarkodie in our lives. Somebody who believes in our talent, somebody who believes in our vision, somebody who will carry us on their back and make sure we see the light. It’s very important.”
Ernest Adu Kumi said Kweku Smoke’s public appreciation serves as evidence that Sarkodie has genuinely invested in the careers of many young artists.
He recalled Sarkodie’s previous projects, including collaborations that featured several up-and-coming musicians, saying those platforms introduced many new talents to music lovers.
According to him, songs such as “Biibi Ba” and other collaborative projects brought together young acts including Strongman, Amerado, Toyboy, Currency, and several others, giving them valuable exposure at a crucial stage in their careers.
He noted that many music fans first discovered some of these artists through the opportunities Sarkodie created for them.
Ernest encouraged the rapper to continue mentoring and promoting young musicians, saying there are many talented artists waiting for a chance to break into the industry.
“He should keep on doing that because there are a lot of young artists waiting at the gate, hoping that the door will be opened for them so they can also enter.”
He also urged other established musicians to emulate Sarkodie’s example by investing in the next generation of talent.
“God blesses you not for your own gains alone. He blesses you so that you can also be a helper to other people. Sarkodie has done well. We need to commend him, and other artists should also do the same.”
Ernest Adu Kumi concluded that when more established musicians support rising acts, Ghana’s music industry will continue to produce more stars and strengthen its global reputation.
