Akwaboah Marriage: Highlife Singer Dismisses Divorce Rumours, Says He Is Happily Married

Award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician Akwaboah has dismissed widespread speculation about his marriage, insisting that reports suggesting he is unhappy with his wife are completely untrue.

The singer explained that his recent social media posts sparked unnecessary rumours because many people misunderstood the message he intended to share. According to him, his marriage has remained peaceful and fulfilling since tying the knot two years ago.

Speaking in an interview with Zion Felix, Akwaboah said he has no regrets about getting married and described his relationship as one that continues to bring him happiness.

“I’m happily married. Everything is going well, and I have no regrets about getting married.”

The musician also addressed claims circulating online that his wife was not taking proper care of him. He rejected the allegations, saying they were completely unfounded.

According to Akwaboah, his wife has been supportive throughout their marriage and even enjoys preparing meals for him.

“My wife takes very good care of me. She even prepares delicious meals for me, so I don’t know where people get those stories from. I’m actually happier now than I was before I got married.”

Touching on the challenges of life in the public eye, Akwaboah disclosed that he prepared his wife before they got married by explaining that being married to a public figure often attracts criticism, even when there is no justification for it.

He said negative comments on social media have become something they handle together, revealing that they often read and laugh about many of the remarks directed at them.

“Sometimes she shows me the comments people make about her, and we laugh about them together. We’re human, though, so there are times the comments aren’t funny. Even then, we don’t allow them to affect our happiness or our marriage.”

Akwaboah also revisited his widely discussed advice that couples should save GH¢8,000 before getting married. He clarified that many people misunderstood the statement by concentrating on the amount instead of the financial lesson behind it.

The highlife singer explained that marriage comes with numerous financial obligations and that his advice was intended to encourage couples to prepare adequately before starting a family.

“People focused on the GH¢8,000 instead of the point I was making. Marriage comes with many financial responsibilities. Once they get married themselves, they’ll understand what I meant.”

He further noted that even GH¢8,000 may not be enough to meet the expenses associated with beginning married life, particularly for young couples who are just starting.
