National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, is set to chair the launch of six historiographies documenting the party’s political journey and its contribution to Ghana’s democratic development.

The launch is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences in Accra.

The event is expected to bring together political actors, historians, academics, writers and members of the public for discussions on the six publications and their place in the documentation of Ghana’s contemporary political history.

The six books chronicle various experiences, developments and events associated with the NDC from the beginning of the Fourth Republic to the present day.

According to the organisers, the publications are intended to preserve important experiences, memories, events and perspectives from Ghana’s Fourth Republic for future generations.

The launch comes as Ghana approaches its 70th anniversary, creating an opportunity for reflection on the country’s political evolution and democratic journey.

Asiedu Nketiah’s role

The decision to have Asiedu Nketiah chair the ceremony is notable given his longstanding involvement in Ghana’s Fourth Republic and his current position as Chairman of the NDC.

The event will include an in-depth conversation on the six books, brief interview screenings and the formal unveiling, launch and auction of the publications.

The organisers say the historiographies are not intended merely as partisan political narratives but will also contribute to the broader documentary record of Ghana’s contemporary political history.

The publications are expected to provide accounts and perspectives on the experiences associated with the NDC and its role in Ghana’s political development, while adding to the historical material available for researchers, academics and future generations.

The ceremony will therefore serve both as a book launch and as a platform for discussions about the political experiences that have shaped Ghana during the Fourth Republic.

The organisers have invited members of the public to attend the event and participate in the unveiling of the six publications.

The launch will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
