Desmond Ofei Appointed Head Coach of Black Meteors

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed former Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei as the new head coach of the national U23 men’s team, the Black Meteors.

Ofei, who also serves as assistant coach of the Black Stars, takes over from Kassim Mingle, recently named head coach of the Black Galaxies. He will be supported by Yaw Preko and Baba Nuhu Malam as assistant coaches.

The technical team has also been strengthened with key appointments. Former Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC goalkeeper Montari Tagoe has been named Goalkeepers’ Coach, while Atta Yeboah, Welfare Officer of Aduana Stars, assumes the role of Team Manager. Henry Bart-Plange will serve as Team Masseur, and Baba Aluta of Aduana Stars takes charge as Equipment Officer.

In addition, Eli Vorgbe joins as Video Analyst to enhance technical preparations, with Dr. Eric Tetteh leading the medical team as Team Doctor and Collins Annor stepping in as Physiotherapist.

According to the GFA, the newly formed technical team is expected to provide strong support in reviving the fortunes of the Black Meteors, who are aiming to return to the Olympic Games for the first time since 2004.
