First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama has appealed to world leaders and communities to join forces in safeguarding the welfare of children, stressing that compassion and collective action are vital to securing their future.

Speaking at a special annual prayer service for peace and children during the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Monday, Mrs. Mahama delivered a heartfelt plea for decisive global measures to protect the world’s most vulnerable.

She underscored the importance of cooperation amid mounting global uncertainties, noting that only through prayer and strong leadership can a safe and empowering environment be created for every child.

“Through prayer and decisive leadership, we can create a world where every child is protected and empowered to achieve their full potential,” the First Lady said.

Offering a special prayer for children worldwide, Mrs. Mahama lifted the plight of needy and orphaned children into what she called God’s “loving care.” She prayed for divine provision of food, shelter, clothing, and education, while asking for protection, comfort, and opportunities for growth and empowerment.

“Heavenly Father, I lift the needy and orphaned children in Ghana and across the world into your loving care. I ask that you surround them with protection, comfort, and hope for a brighter future,” she prayed.

Mrs. Mahama also expressed gratitude to individuals and organizations dedicating their resources to children’s welfare, asking for blessings upon their work. She urged the global community to ensure children grow in wisdom, strength, and joy, surrounded by kindness and opportunities to thrive as “testimonies of grace and provision.”

Her address at the UNGA underscored a broader call for unity, compassion, and practical action in addressing the pressing needs of children worldwide.
