GFA beef up Black Stars backroom staff with five others ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Ghana Football Association has bolstered the Black Stars Technical Team with five new appointments ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The FA has added new appointments to improve preparation, performance, and depth within the team in upcoming International Friendlies ahead of the main tournament in June.

French coach Alain Ravera has joined the team as Assistant Coach, bringing experience from stints with Guinea and AS Monaco.

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has also been added, fresh from leading Ghana to a bronze medal at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the next edition.

His inclusion allows the GFA to tap into his recent international success while he continues to oversee the women’s national team.

Spanish coach José Daniel Martínez Alfonso has been added to strengthen opposition analysis, scouting, and match preparation.

Martínez Alfonso works in Major League Soccer with Atlanta FC as an assistant coach and video analyst.

The medical department has been bolstered with a physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, who previously served the team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

English-born Ghanaian Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, appointed as Performance Coach to oversee conditioning and player optimisation.

Ghana found themselves in group L alongside Panama England and Croatia.

The Black Stars will start the campaign in Canada, Toronto as host to Panama.
