The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is taking steps to reinforce the Black Stars’ technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to the communication director.

Speaking to Kumasi based LUV FM, Asante Twum revealed that Coach Otto Addo made some recommendations and additions to the technical team backroom staff, immediately after Ghana sealed the World Cup qualification slot.

“There are also plans to strengthen the technical team, which is very well-known, and it is one of the recommendations that the coach made immediately after our qualification. That discussion is also ongoing,” Asante Twum said.

“A lot is being done, but the interesting thing in football is that everything you do behind the scenes is not recognised until the team lines up on the pitch to play,”

“From now until June 17, when we line up for our first match in Toronto against Panama, we will continue to work to make the team better,” Asante Twum added.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Austria and Germany in international friendly matches this March.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The Black Stars are in group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
