King Charles III of the United Kingdom has sent a heartfelt message of condolence to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

In a statement from Buckingham Palace, the British monarch extended sympathies to the Oyoko royal family and the people of the Asante kingdom, describing the loss as deeply significant.

King Charles, a close friend of the Asantehene and long-standing ally of the Asante kingdom, praised the late Queen Mother for her remarkable role in safeguarding and promoting Ashanti traditions.

“Her Royal Majesty demonstrated a deep devotion to preserving the traditions and unity of the Ashanti throughout her life and served as an exemplar of wise, fair, and gracious judgment and counsel,” the King said.

He further highlighted her lasting impact through leadership, guidance, and charitable work, particularly in support of women and children.

“Her passing is an immense loss which I know will be keenly felt in the Ashanti community around the world,” he added.

Concluding his message, King Charles expressed his family’s solidarity with Otumfuo and the Asante kingdom. “My special thoughts and prayers are with Your Majesty and your family at this very sad time, and my wife joins me in sending our most heartfelt condolences to all those who share in your mourning,” the statement read.
