Kwabena Mintah Akandoh Suspends Nalerigu Nursing College Principal Over Unauthorized Admissions

The Ministry of Health, Ghana has suspended the Principal of the Nalerigu Nurses and Midwifery Training College over alleged unauthorized admissions.

In a press release issued cited by KPDonline.net on February 27, 2026, the Ministry announced that the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, directed the immediate suspension of the head of the institution following preliminary findings of irregular admissions practices.

The directive was given during the Minister’s working visit to the Upper East, North East and Northern Regions, where he toured health facilities and training institutions to assess operations and service delivery. During the visit to the Nalerigu Nurses and Midwifery Training College, the Minister was briefed on alleged unauthorized admissions at the school.

Following initial investigations, the Minister ordered the immediate suspension of the Principal pending further inquiries.

The statement stressed that adherence to established admission protocols in health training institutions is non-negotiable. It further warned that any head of institution found engaging in unauthorized practices would face strict sanctions.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the maintenance of high standards across health training institutions nationwide.
