Kwaisey Pee Marks 25 Years in Highlife with Release of New Singles from “Agyaba” EP
After a 25-year career defined by smooth vocals and timeless Highlife melodies, Kwaisey Pee is celebrating his legacy with the release of new music.
The veteran Ghanaian artist has unveiled two singles, “Gye W’ani (Enjoy Life)” and “Akwaaba (Welcome),” drawn from his latest EP, Agyaba. The songs reaffirm his longstanding commitment to authentic Highlife, a genre he has helped shape for more than two decades.
Born Akwasi Poku Addae, Kwaisey Pee remains one of the most respected figures in Ghana’s Highlife scene. Renowned for his distinctive silky voice and enduring melodies, he has built a catalogue that continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
Over the years, he has produced several widely acclaimed tracks, including “Me Hia Odo,” “Krokro Me,” “Ohemaa,” and “Obaa Yaa,” solidifying his reputation as a household name. His vocal prowess earned him the Best Male Vocal Performance award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2007.
The newly released “Gye W’ani (Enjoy Life)” delivers an uplifting message encouraging listeners to embrace life despite its challenges, driven by vibrant guitar rhythms and classic Highlife instrumentation. In contrast, “Akwaaba (Welcome)” highlights themes of Ghanaian hospitality, unity, and cultural pride, set to rich melodies and an inviting groove.
Both songs feature on the Agyaba EP, a project that underscores Kwaisey Pee’s dedication to preserving the essence of Highlife while ensuring its continued relevance in a modern musical landscape.
