Kweku Flick Faces Backlash Over Claims of Louder Support From Outside Ghana

Ghanaian musician Kweku Flick has faced criticism after suggesting that his music is receiving greater support from outside Ghana than from his home country.

The backlash followed a post in which the musician expressed appreciation to Tanzanian content creator Tenge Tenge for showing what he described as genuine love and support for his music.

Kweku Flick specifically referenced his song “FRANGŌ”, describing it as a major record while questioning why the song appears to be receiving more attention outside Ghana than within the country.

“Sometimes the support you expect from home comes from somewhere else. Tenge Tenge, my brother, thank you for the genuine love. The people of Ghana know FRANGŌ is a big record, but somehow the support from outside is louder than the support from home,” he wrote.

His remarks sparked mixed reactions among Ghanaian music fans, with some arguing that they have consistently supported his career and promoted his songs over the years.

Some fans also resurfaced previous social media posts in which they had celebrated his music, claiming that their efforts had gone largely unnoticed or unappreciated by the artiste.

Others accused Kweku Flick of appearing ungrateful and questioned why recognition from a foreign personality seemed to carry more significance than the support he receives from Ghanaian fans.

The discussion gained further traction after fellow Ghanaian musician Yaw Tog appeared to support the sentiment, reminding his followers of the popular saying that “a hero is not celebrated in his own home.”
