NDC ISSUES TOUGH WARNING: Parliamentary Aspirants Ordered to STOP Campaigning Immediately

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong directive ordering party members with parliamentary ambitions to immediately stop all campaign-related activities ahead of the official opening of nominations.

In a press release dated September 14, 2026, the NDC National Secretariat said it had taken note of activities being undertaken by some party members who appear to be positioning themselves for parliamentary contests in various constituencies.

NDC draws the line on early campaigning

Following extensive deliberations, the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) has directed all members involved in parliamentary campaign activities, whether directly or indirectly, to immediately cease such activities.

The directive covers a wide range of activities that could be interpreted as promoting or advancing a potential parliamentary candidacy before the party officially opens nominations.

Members have specifically been cautioned against organising or participating in meetings, engagements, tours, donations, public appearances and other activities intended, or reasonably perceived, to promote their parliamentary ambitions.

Defaulters face disciplinary action

The NDC warned that premature campaign activities could become disruptive to the party’s unity, cohesion and orderly functioning.

The party issued a stern warning that any member who disregards the directive could face disciplinary action and severe sanctions in accordance with the NDC Constitution, rules and regulations.

Regional, Constituency and Branch executives, as well as other party officers, have also been instructed to ensure strict compliance and report any breaches to the appropriate party authorities.

NDC promises transparent parliamentary selection process

The party stressed its commitment to conducting a transparent, orderly and credible process for selecting its parliamentary candidates.

According to the statement, the NDC will officially communicate the opening of nominations and the applicable guidelines at the appropriate time.

The party has consequently urged all members to respect its established processes and maintain discipline in the interest of party unity.
