President Mahama Set to Extend IGP Yohuno’s Tenure to Sustain Police Reforms
IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno may get a two-year extension as President Mahama seeks to sustain police reforms and boost national security.
The extension would allow IGP Yohuno to continue leading the Ghana Police Service as it advances ongoing reforms and strengthens national security operations. Sources say the move aims to maintain continuity in security management and build on progress achieved under his leadership.
Appointed earlier this year, IGP Yohuno has been recognized for boosting police visibility, enhancing crime response strategies, and promoting community policing nationwide. He was initially scheduled to retire in December 2025.
Although the extension has not yet been formally confirmed, it would enable him to oversee key security programmes, modernisation initiatives, and personnel development within the service.
