Shatta Wale to Sue Blakk Rasta Over Alleged Defamatory Statements
Management of African dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has confirmed that the musician has instructed his legal team to file a defamation lawsuit against broadcaster and musician Blakk Rasta.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, in Accra, the management said the decision follows a series of public statements allegedly made by Blakk Rasta which they describe as false and damaging to the artiste’s reputation.
According to the statement, Shatta Wale has consistently shown respect for freedom of expression and the role of the media in public discourse. However, management stressed that freedom of speech comes with responsibility, especially when commentary touches on the character and integrity of individuals. They emphasized the need for accuracy, fairness, and professionalism in broadcasting.
The management explained that the decision to seek legal redress was not taken lightly. It said the action is aimed at protecting Shatta Wale’s personal and professional reputation, while also reinforcing the importance of responsible commentary within Ghana’s media space.
With the matter now before the courts, Shatta Wale and his management indicated they would refrain from discussing the issue in the media and would allow due legal process to take its course. They expressed confidence in the judicial system and trust that the appropriate forum would address the concerns raised.
The statement further assured fans, partners, and the general public that Shatta Wale remains focused on his music, ongoing projects, and his positive contributions to the entertainment industry.
The release was signed by the Public Relations Manager of Shatta Movement Empire. Media inquiries were directed to the official contact numbers provided by the management.
