Stonebwoy’s Wembley Concert: DJ Slim Explains the Use of Curtains

Ghanaian media personality DJ Slim has explained why sections of the OVO Arena Wembley were covered with curtains during Stonebwoy’s historic BHIM Festival concert in London, dismissing suggestions that the curtains indicated poor ticket sales or a failed show.

According to DJ Slim, the use of curtains is a common practice in large entertainment venues when organisers choose not to open every section of an arena. The approach allows event organisers to adjust the venue’s capacity to match attendance and create a more compact and energetic atmosphere for the audience.

He also explained that curtains can serve practical purposes, including improving acoustics by reducing echoes from unused sections, while helping organisers manage lighting and maintain focus on the stage.

DJ Slim stressed that the practice is widely used by event organisers around the world and should not automatically be interpreted as a sign of an unsuccessful concert.

Stonebwoy made history on August 15, 2026, becoming the first Ghanaian artist to headline a concert at the OVO Arena Wembley, a venue with a capacity of about 12,500.

The BHIM Festival transformed the London arena into a celebration of Ghanaian and African music and culture, featuring performances that highlighted the continent’s rich musical heritage.

Stonebwoy was supported by a strong lineup of Ghanaian and African artistes, including Kwabena Kwabena, Tiwa Savage, Mr P, Ofori Amponsah, DopeNation, Juma Jux and Samini.

Their performances added to what was presented as a major celebration of African excellence on one of the world’s renowned entertainment stages.

While the use of curtains has sparked discussion on social media, DJ Slim’s explanation suggests that the focus should remain on the significance of Stonebwoy’s achievement: bringing Ghanaian music to the iconic Wembley stage and making history in the process.
