Two Dead, Seven Injured in Head-On Collision Involving MMT Bus at Assin Fosu
Two people have died, and seven others sustained injuries following a head-on collision involving a Scienta vehicle and a Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The accident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Sunday when the Scienta, which was travelling from Cape Coast, reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle.
The manoeuvre allegedly caused the Scienta to collide head-on with an MMT bus travelling in the opposite direction from Kumasi.
The driver of the Scienta and one passenger were killed in the crash, while five other occupants of the vehicle sustained various degrees of injury.
The injured victims were subsequently conveyed to a hospital, where they were admitted for medical attention.
Passengers on the MMT bus also expressed gratitude to God for their safety, noting that no passenger on the bus lost their life in the accident.
The incident has since attracted the attention of the police, who have commenced investigations to establish the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
Authorities are expected to determine whether overtaking, speed, road conditions or other factors contributed to the crash as investigations continue.
