Veteran Actress Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu Named Ghana’s Investment and Tourism Envoy to Türkiye
Veteran Ghanaian actress Akorfa Edjeani Asiedu has been named Ghana’s Investment and Tourism Envoy to Türkiye, marking a new chapter in her public service career.
She officially assumed office on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and described the appointment as a responsibility she accepts with humility, gratitude and a strong sense of duty.
In a statement on her Instagram page marking her first day in office, Akorfa said she was honoured to have the opportunity to put her knowledge, experience, relationships and resources at the service of Ghana.
She stressed that her new role goes beyond holding a title, describing it as a call to service aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for Ghanaians.
According to her, one of her key priorities will be to build stronger bridges between Ghana and the global community, particularly by attracting responsible investment, promoting Ghana’s tourism potential and strengthening international partnerships.
She said these efforts would focus on creating opportunities that can translate into jobs, businesses, economic growth and sustainable development for the country.
Akorfa also highlighted the importance of Ghana’s creative industry, noting that sectors such as music, film, fashion, arts and design can serve as important drivers of economic opportunity while promoting Ghanaian culture and national identity.
She expressed confidence that Ghana’s creative talents have the potential to tell the country’s story to international audiences while opening new avenues for investment and growth.
The veteran actress further pointed to the growing importance of soft power in international relations. She said cultural exchange and people-to-people connections can bring nations, ideas, investment and opportunities together in ways that complement traditional diplomacy.
She therefore expressed her commitment to using the platform to strengthen Ghana’s international relationships and enhance the country’s position on the global stage.
Akorfa said she enters the new office with the conviction that connecting the right people, ideas, capital, culture and opportunities can contribute significantly to Ghana’s development.
“I am ready to listen, to learn, to collaborate, and most importantly, to deliver,” she stated.
She added that she hopes her tenure will be measured not by the position she holds but by the impact created through the work.
“Service. Partnership. Culture. Opportunity. Progress,” she said, outlining the values she intends to bring to the assignment.
Akorfa concluded by pledging to approach the role with purpose, integrity and an unwavering commitment to God and country.
