‘We Must Stop Preparing Young People to Look for Jobs’ — NEIP CEO Eric Adjei

This is where I believe the future of African entrepreneurship lies.

Africa must move from an economy that produces knowledge to an economy that applies knowledge to solving real societal needs.

We must move from just identifying innovation to financing it, from incubating ideas to building viable and sustainable Businesses around them, and from preparing young people to look for jobs to preparing them to create the jobs of tomorrow.

Ladies and gentlemen, to this end, Ghana is undertaking an important transformation of its entrepreneurial ecosystem.

At the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, NEIP, our responsibility is not simply to provide funding to young people. We are building an integrated support system that connects entrepreneurship training, incubation, mentorship, technology, financing, market access, and partnerships.
