The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited exercise to replace Ghanaian passports that were lost or damaged during the devastating floods that affected several parts of the country this week.

In a press release issued on Friday, July 3, the Ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to individuals and families impacted by the floods, which have claimed lives and destroyed properties across affected communities.

The Ministry also extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and reaffirmed its solidarity with all Ghanaians affected by the disaster.

According to the statement, authorities recognize that many flood victims may have either lost their passports or had them severely damaged as a result of the flooding. To ease the burden on affected citizens, the Ministry has introduced a fast-track passport replacement process.

Individuals whose passports were lost or damaged during the floods are required to contact the Ministry between Friday, July 3, and Friday, July 17, 2026, by calling 055 936 8563.

Affected persons are expected to provide the following information:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender (as captured in the lost or damaged passport)
  • A contact phone number for follow-up communication

The Ministry said it aims to replace all eligible lost and damaged passports within one week after the necessary information has been verified.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further assured the public of its continued commitment to supporting the government’s recovery efforts while standing in solidarity with all citizens affected by the floods.

The announcement forms part of measures being implemented to help victims recover essential travel documents and restore access to critical government services following the nationwide flooding.
