“I Miss Going to the Club and Dancing Freely” — Nana Ama McBrown

Popular Ghanaian actress and media personality Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about one of the lifestyle changes she struggles with as a result of fame, revealing that she misses the freedom of going out to nightclubs and dancing without public attention.

Speaking on the Stay By Plan podcast, the award-winning actress said she often finds herself wishing she could relive the simple joy of visiting a nightclub and dancing freely, just like she used to in her younger years before becoming widely known.

She explained that dancing has always been something she enjoys deeply and that she is naturally a happy and energetic person. However, she noted that her celebrity status has made it difficult for her to enjoy such experiences in the same carefree way.

According to her, one of the biggest challenges is the constant recognition she receives from fans wherever she goes. Even in environments like nightclubs—where lighting is usually dim and people expect a sense of privacy—she said she still gets easily identified.

She added that instead of people allowing her to relax and enjoy the moment, many often focus on recording her on their phones. This, she said, takes away the freedom and comfort she once had when going out casually.

McBrown further explained that because of this constant attention, she is unable to fully let herself go and enjoy “club dancing” the way ordinary patrons do, emphasizing that the experience feels completely different for her now compared to life before fame.
