Ohemaa Mercy Reveals Father’s Hospitalisation Was Her Biggest Challenge This Year

Ghanaian gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy has revealed that her father’s hospitalisation in February was the biggest challenge she has faced this year, saying he nearly died from a heart condition.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Ohemaa Mercy said the situation was extremely difficult as she had to stay by her father during his hospitalisation.

“My biggest challenge this year was sometime in February when my dad was hospitalised, and I had to be with him. He almost died,” she said.

According to the gospel musician, her father’s recovery became a powerful testimony for her, crediting God with healing him from the heart condition.

“One thing that the Lord did… God started with me in my home, healing my father of a heart problem. My father is still alive. It is a real testimony,” she said.

Ohemaa Mercy disclosed that she intends to share the full testimony of her father’s illness and recovery on the Altar of Tehilah.

“It wasn’t easy at all… My father is still alive; it is a real testimony. I’m going to share on the Altar of Tehilah,” she added.

During the TV3 interview, the conversation also turned to the painful experiences of people who put their faith in God but still lose loved ones.

Responding to the issue, Ohemaa Mercy said she has come to understand that some difficult situations may serve a greater purpose in a person’s life.

She explained that, in her understanding, God sometimes allows painful circumstances to strengthen believers and prevent certain experiences from overwhelming them or taking them away from their faith.

The gospel musician also opened up about her own experience with loss, revealing that she has lost two of her brothers.

“I have lost two of my brothers. It was really, really tough for me, and I had to ask the Lord, why would they leave at that particular time? I needed them so much,” she recounted.

Ohemaa Mercy said that although the deaths were difficult for her to understand at the time, she has gradually come to see the experiences differently.

She noted that people may not always immediately understand why certain painful events happen, but with time, they may come to appreciate the lessons or purpose behind them.
