Cyber Security Boss Suspended for Using Soldier as Bodyguard Without Approval

The Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti, has been handed a two-week suspension following a directive from the Office of the President.

This disciplinary action is linked to an ongoing investigation into allegations that Mr. Agbeti enlisted the services of a uniformed military officer as his personal bodyguard during public events—without official clearance.

Sources reveal that the Office of the President lodged a formal complaint regarding the matter, which led the Minister for Communications to initiate action.

In a letter dated July 15, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the presidency expressed strong disapproval of Mr. Agbeti’s actions. The letter described the use of a uniformed soldier for personal protection as “inappropriate” and noted that the act had caused embarrassment to the government.

The suspension is intended to pave the way for a thorough investigation into the incident and will help determine whether further disciplinary measures should be taken.
