The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, announced that 40 of the missing containers from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have been located in a warehouse owned by an Indian national in Kpone, near Tema.

He made this statement during an interview with TV3 on Wednesday, March 26. Mr. Jinapor praised the efforts of national security and law enforcement agencies in tracking down the missing containers. He stated, “The important issue is the whereabouts of these containers. I received a briefing this morning indicating that about 40 of them have already been traced to a warehouse in Kpone, which belongs to an Indian national. All 40 containers have been confiscated and moved to a secure location.”

The warehouse owner claimed that the containers were sold to him last year. However, Mr. Jinapor emphasized that the matter is under investigation and that law enforcement agencies will ensure justice is served. “This is now a subject of investigation, and the law enforcement agencies will make sure that the law takes its course,” he added. Furthermore, Mr. Jinapor noted that intelligence reports suggest there are additional missing containers at other locations.

He assured the public that security agencies are actively pursuing leads to recover all the missing containers and hold those responsible accountable. “They have identified other locations and are following up to retrieve all the containers and ensure the perpetrators are prosecuted in competent courts,” he affirmed.
