Evangelist Nana Agradaa Jailed 15 Years for Money Doubling Scam
Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, a former traditional priestess turned evangelist, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Circuit Court in Accra.
The court found her guilty of charlatanic advertisement and obtaining money by false pretenses. Her conviction stems from a televised broadcast in 2022, during which she deceived viewers by claiming she had spiritual powers to double money.
Enticed by her promises, numerous individuals handed over large sums of cash in hopes of receiving multiplied returns—returns that never materialized.
Before sentencing, the court conducted a mandatory pregnancy test, which confirmed that she was not pregnant. This cleared the way for immediate sentencing.
The ruling has sparked widespread public praise, with many viewing it as a major step in cracking down on spiritual fraud and exposing deceptive religious practices. The case serves as a warning to others engaged in similar schemes.
