FOCAP Applauds the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts for Being a Listening Ministry
Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP) started an advocacy (war) in seeing to the betterment of the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) to serve its functions, which is seeing to the betterment of the creative sector largely.
Indeed, when FOCAP started during the NPP era, many thought they were into politics, but their lenses were still focused on seeing a good change within the sector.
Hitting hard on the illegalities happening within, during the NPP era, and yet the Ministry sat on and never bothered until the new government, the NDC, came to power.
A listening government, the NDC has quickly done the needful.
1- Corrected the illegality of a private website purported to be the agency website.
2- changed the double standard logo identity for a state agency and a private entity.
3- Appointment of a legal Executive Secretary.
FOCAP believes the system is working, and the resetting agenda is active.
FOCAP has fought very hard during the NPP era to see the best happen within the creative arts sector. They advocated for the appointment of a legal executive secretary since the 2020, Act 1048 demanded that the president, by Article 195 to appoint an executive secretary. The then NPP government left Gyankroma Akuffo Addo to occupy the seat illegally, FOCAP threatened to go on a demonstration to see the appointment of a legal executive secretary and a board to run the affairs of the agency, raised an issue of double standard logo identity for the government agency and a private entity and many other illegalities.
FOCAP, thank the current team at the Ministry of Tourism Culture and Creative Arts and the current Executive Secretary, Gideon Aryeequaye, for quick responses to the inefficiencies and illegalities.
FOCAP urged all within the creative sector to come together. Let’s work together to build a better creative economy.
