The Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA) has issued a statement distancing itself from a petition circulating online and elsewhere, calling for the removal of two recently appointed executives of the National Film Authority (NFA).

According to the statement signed by the President of GAFTA, Dr. Jim Fara Awindor, three members of the academy, namely George Bosompim, Jim Awindor, and Linus Abraham, whose names appear on the petition, were not aware of the document and did not sign it.

GAFTA views the inclusion of its members’ names on the petition as “mischievous and scandalous.” The academy emphasizes that the petition does not represent its opinion and has therefore disassociated itself from the document.

The statement serves as a clarification to set the record straight and avoid any misconceptions about GAFTA’s stance on the matter.
