President Mahama Directs Full Investigation Into Suspected Drug Trafficking at Kotoka Airport
President John Dramani Mahama Orders Investigation Into Alleged Drug Trafficking at Kotoka International Airport
President John Dramani Mahama has taken note of allegations raised by Honourable Rev. John Ntim Fordjour regarding two suspicious flights that recently arrived at Kotoka International Airport. The honourable member of parliament suggested that these flights may be linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.
Given the seriousness of these claims, the President has swiftly directed all relevant investigative agencies to conduct a thorough and transparent inquiry. The agencies involved include the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator. These bodies have been instructed to fully collaborate with Honourable Fordjour, ensuring he provides any necessary information to aid in the investigation.
Ghana remains steadfast in its commitment to combat drug trafficking and will not allow the country to be used as a transit or final destination for illegal drugs. The President upholds a zero-tolerance policy on this matter and is determined to expose and dismantle any networks involved in such criminal activities.
This directive follows a recent high-profile drug bust by the NIB, in which narcotics with a street value of $350 million were intercepted. This success underscores the government’s relentless efforts to crack down on drug-related crimes and ensure national security.
As investigations proceed, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. President Mahama assures Ghanaians that his administration will leave no stone unturned in its quest to safeguard the nation from illicit drug activities.
