Vice President Opoku-Agyemang Returns Home, Credits Recovery to Divine Mercy and Mahama Family Support
Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang arrived in Ghana on Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2025, after undergoing medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
She was warmly welcomed at Kotoka International Airport by a delegation led by President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama. Also present were Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Vice President’s Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, senior government officials, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, and close family members.
In a brief statement, the Vice President expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support she received during her recovery. “First, I want to thank God. His mercies have been endless, and I’m deeply grateful,” she said.
She commended her medical team for their attentiveness and timely interventions. “I appreciate the medical staff for identifying what needed to be done and proposing the right steps that led to my healing,” she remarked.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang also paid special tribute to President Mahama for his decisive actions during a critical moment in her health journey. “To my boss, President Mahama—on that day, I don’t know where you came from, but you appeared just in time and took swift action. I’m truly grateful,” she said.
Visibly moved, she acknowledged Ibrahim Mahama, the President’s younger brother, for his unwavering support. “He ensured I had everything I needed and even visited me in the hospital. Just his presence was healing in itself. I’m so thankful, my little Boss,” she added.
Looking ahead, Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasized her readiness to resume her duties, reaffirming her commitment to national development. “I’m glad to be back. A lot has happened, and there’s still much to do. With unity and determination, I believe we can achieve even more for our country,” she concluded.
