CPP CALLS ON ALL GHANAIANS TO SUPPORT THE RESET AGENDA, AND COMMENDS HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA FOR HEEDING THE CPP’S CALL ON INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Fellow Independent Ghanaians, we are 68 years today. A day of mixed feelings, a day of oneness, from North, South, East and West. A day that we take stock of how far we have come as Ghanaians. A day that makes it glaringly obvious, that the Party which gained Independence for our beloved Country, is also the Party that has the blueprint for the comprehensive prosperity and destiny of our dear Country Ghana.

For how long will we continue to stray? Indeed, it is refreshing to note that His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Government, took many leaves from the CPP book of wisdom, and implemented Nkrumaist inspired policies, such as the Free Senior High School policy, and other socialist policies. Policies that were evident in the CPP’s 7 year development plan, as far back as 1963, built on its highly successful Accelerated Development Plan for Education, in 1952, which made basic education free.

It is further refreshing to note, that at the recent National Economic Dialogue, organised by the State, a key and undeniable admission made during the speeches at the opening plenary, was the fact that the success of the 1 Republic economy of
the CPP era is unmatched till date, and must be aspired to by the State.

This was indeed a humbling admission, and the CPP is proud to have set the bar of
positive achievements high when it was in power.

Indeed, if the aspirations of the National Economic Dialogue are followed through, Ghana, and the President John Dramani Mahama led NDC Government, are bound to reach the heights the CPP reached during the 1″ Republic.

Another initiative worthy of praise is the decision to scale down the 68h
Independence Anniversary Commemoration, and save GHS13,500,000, which is 90% of the previous cost.

It is interesting to note that, on record, the CPP message on the 66h Independence Anniversary in 2023, was for a boycott of the Independence Celebrations until the Country was in a better state, and further, even as far back as the 55th Independence Anniversary in 2012, the same call was made by prominent members of the CPP, even going as far as launching a social media campaign in addition to street engagement.

This initiative to scale down the Independence Celebrations, as part of the reset agenda by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama is indeed laudable.
The CPP wishes all Ghanaians a peaceful and relaxing 68th Independence Anniversary, and calls on all to support the President in his call to reflect, review,
and reset; as building the economy we want together, will benefit all, irrespective
of Party colour, creed, or ideology.
FORWARD EVER! BACKWARD NEVER!
