Each District Assembly to Receive at Least GH¢25 Million in 2025 – Finance Minister
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that every District Assembly in Ghana will receive a minimum of GH¢25 million in 2025.
This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote decentralization and give local authorities more power to manage development projects that meet the specific needs of their communities.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, Dr. Forson stated that a total of GH¢7.57 billion has been set aside for local government activities in 2025. Out of this, about GH¢6.1 billion will go directly to the District Assemblies to help boost economic growth at the local level.
He further assured that the government is committed not only to releasing these funds but also to ensuring they are used effectively.
“Government is ensuring that approximately GH¢6.1 billion of the GH¢7.57 billion planned for 2025 will go directly to the district assemblies to support local economic development,” Dr. Forson said.
He added, “Mr. Speaker, based on this plan, every District Assembly will receive at least GH¢25 million in 2025. We are not only releasing funds—we are also making sure they are used properly to support the country’s development goals.”
