Ex-Arsenal Star Thomas Partey Charged with Multiple Sexual Offences in UK
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been formally charged with multiple sexual offences by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian footballer, who resides in Hertfordshire, faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. According to authorities, the alleged offences involve three different women and are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.
Two of the rape charges relate to one woman, while three others involve a second woman. The charge of sexual assault pertains to a third individual.
Police say the investigation began in February 2022 following an initial report of rape. Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
The charges come just weeks after Partey left Arsenal following the expiration of his contract. During his five-year tenure at the North London club, he battled several injury setbacks but made a notable impact last season with 35 appearances and four goals. Before joining Arsenal in 2020, Partey played for Spanish side Atlético Madrid and has earned numerous caps for the Ghanaian national team.
Reports had linked him with potential moves to top European clubs including Juventus, Barcelona, and Fenerbahce before news of the charges emerged.
