GH¢1 Million Cash Found Hidden in Fertiliser Bags: Volta Police Intercept Transit Bus in Juapong

The Volta Regional Police Command has intercepted a Ford Transit bus carrying an astonishing GH¢1,021,700 in one cedi notes and coins, concealed in 68 fertiliser bags.

The operation occurred around 4:45 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, during a routine snap check at Juapong. According to an official police statement, the bus was travelling from Ho in the Volta Region to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region when it was stopped.

The vehicle’s driver, identified as Edward Ansah, has been taken into police custody. During preliminary questioning, he revealed that he was hired by an unknown individual in Kumasi to transport the money. However, he did not provide further details about the person or the intended purpose of the cash.

The unusual method of concealment and the large amount involved have raised suspicions, prompting a full investigation.

“The suspect is in custody assisting Police in investigations,” the statement confirmed. Authorities assured the public that they will be informed as more details emerge.
