Police Special Operations Team Strengthens Security and Community Relations in Bole
The Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service has carried out a two-day patrol and community engagement exercise across Bole and its surrounding communities from September 5 to 6, 2025.
The operation, designed to enforce the curfew and maintain public safety, was conducted peacefully with strong cooperation from residents.
On the night of September 5, eighty-nine (89) police personnel, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bawa Jalil, Head of Operations – Special Operations Team, Bole, were deployed across Bole Township and border communities. Their night patrols focused on boosting police visibility, deterring crime, and responding quickly to potential threats. Reports confirmed that all areas remained calm and orderly throughout the exercise.
The following day, September 6, the focus shifted to community engagement. Officers interacted with residents, traders, business owners, and local leaders to gather feedback on the curfew and its impact. While residents commended the improved security, they expressed concerns about economic hardships caused by restricted evening activities.
In a meeting with the Chief Imam of Bole and his elders, the religious leaders praised the professionalism of the police but appealed for a review of curfew hours to accommodate religious practices, particularly dawn and evening prayers.
The Ghana Police Service, in response, reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, ensuring peace, and strengthening ties with the community. It further assured that feedback from residents will be taken into account in future curfew enforcement policies within the Bole jurisdiction.
