Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department, has emerged victorious in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary for Tamale Central.

He polled 840 votes in the keenly contested election, held on September 6 at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, to succeed the late Member of Parliament, Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash alongside seven others.

Addressing party members after the Electoral Commission declared the results, Prof. Seidu urged unity and reconciliation within the NDC.

“I think the way we have started, it is important that we continue with this tone of reconciliation and we work together as a party to be able to win the seat for the NDC,” he stated.

The primary, which featured 12 aspirants including three women, ended with Prof. Seidu’s commanding victory, earning him warm congratulations from his competitors.
