Mahama Appoints Kalsoume Sinare, Nii Amasah Namoale, and Kojo Bonsu Among 15 New Ghanaian Envoys
President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 15 new envoys to serve as ambassadors and high commissioners, including renowned actress Kalsoume Sinare, former La-Dadekotopon MP Nii Amasah Namoale, and ex-Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu.
The list, which also features top academics like former Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, and the University of Cape Coast’s first female Pro Vice-Chancellor, Associate Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, reflects a diverse mix of political leaders, technocrats, and public figures who will advance Ghana’s interests abroad.
A letter from the Office of the President dated June 10, 2025, and signed by Secretary to the President Callistus Mahama, PhD, confirmed the nominations were made after consultations with the Council of State, as required by Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution. The appointments await parliamentary vetting.
Kalsoume Sinare, a celebrated Ghanaian actress who has featured in over 50 movies and is a prominent supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is nominated as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain. Reports suggest her name appeared on the list during party discussions where her cousin, Alhaji Said Sinare, a senior NDC figure and former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, was also considered.
Nii Amasah Namoale, who served as MP for La-Dadekotopon from 2005 to 2017 and was a Deputy Minister of Agriculture, will represent Ghana as Ambassador to Brazil. His experience in politics and agriculture is expected to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations in South America.
