Sammy Gyamfi Dismisses NPP Claims, Says GoldBod Remains Profitable Despite Gold Price Slump

Published

on

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, has strongly rejected claims by some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus that the state-owned institution is recording losses and mismanaging public funds.

In a statement issued on Friday, July 24, Gyamfi described the allegations as false and misleading, insisting that GoldBod remains financially strong and continues to deliver on its mandate despite challenging global market conditions.

According to him, GoldBod posted an operational surplus of GH¢909.7 million and an overall surplus of GH¢5.44 billion for the 2025 financial year.

He explained that these figures are contained in the 2025 Audited Annual Report and Financial Statements, which were prepared by the Auditor-General and published on GoldBod’s official website.

Gyamfi further stated that despite a more than 23% decline in international gold prices since February 2026, GoldBod has continued to record significant achievements.

He noted that the institution has maintained strong performance even after reducing its pricing incentives from about 14% to 6% following the scaling down of its baseline programme implementation.

According to him, GoldBod remains on track in meeting its targets for the 2026 financial year, including increasing gold purchases, generating foreign exchange, supporting Ghana’s gold reserve accumulation, promoting local value addition, advancing sustainability initiatives, and achieving its projected financial surplus.

The GoldBod CEO also urged the media and the public to disregard what he described as “falsehoods” being circulated by certain members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament regarding the institution’s operations.

He specifically accused the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and some NPP MPs of repeatedly making unfounded claims that GoldBod is operating at a loss and siphoning public funds.

Gyamfi described the allegations as baseless, insisting that they are not supported by the institution’s audited financial records.

He maintained that GoldBod would remain focused on executing its mandate and contributing to Ghana’s economic development rather than responding to what he called politically motivated attacks.

According to him, the success of GoldBod will ultimately outweigh what he described as a campaign of misinformation by its critics.

Offence Can Make You Lose Your Inheritance – Dr. Lawrence Tetteh Urges Ghanaians to Live Above Bitterness

Published

on

Renowned evangelist Dr. Lawrence Tetteh has called on Ghanaians to avoid living in offence and bitterness, warning that harboring grudges can rob people of their purpose, relationships and even their destiny.

Delivering a speech during the wreath-laying ceremony and 14th commemoration of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, Dr. Tetteh stressed that “offence can make you lose your inheritance.”

According to him, offence is one of the enemy’s greatest traps because people will always criticize others regardless of what they do. He advised that becoming easily offended could cause people to lose valuable relationships, respect and loyal supporters.

Dr. Tetteh noted that offence breeds division, disloyalty and unnecessary conflicts, adding that those who have benefited from someone’s kindness can eventually turn against them when offence takes root.

Drawing lessons from the Bible, he cited John the Baptist, saying offence and disappointment can affect a person’s outlook even in difficult moments. He also referenced Moses, who, despite leading the Israelites out of Egypt, did not enter the Promised Land, urging people not to allow offence to derail their God-given assignment.

He further warned leaders not to let criticism from followers distract them from their mandate, emphasizing that reacting to every provocation only weakens one’s focus.
“If you want to stand like H.E. Atta Mills, live an offence-free life,” Dr. Tetteh said, encouraging Ghanaians to use their positions to build friendships rather than create enemies.

The annual wreath-laying ceremony was held to honour the memory and leadership legacy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, who passed away in office 14 years ago.

Kumasi-based media personality Ama Parone (Jennifer) has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding viral videos linked to her name, offering an apology over one circulating clip while firmly denying involvement in a second video.

In a statement released on July 24, 2026, Ama Parone said she had remained silent for several days to process the situation, pray, and find the right words. She explained that the widespread speculation, accusations and online mockery had taken a heavy emotional toll, adding that her silence should not be mistaken for guilt.

Addressing the general public, the broadcaster apologised to her family, colleagues, fans, mentors and everyone she believes she has disappointed.

She admitted that the video currently circulating and featuring her is from her past, describing it as a period in her life she is not proud of.

According to her, she was young, naïve and made poor decisions that she deeply regrets. She stressed that the incident happened long ago and does not reflect the person she has become today.

Ama Parone said she has since matured and worked hard to become “a woman of substance” whose family can be proud of and whose work inspires others. She appealed to the public for grace and understanding as she continues to move forward.

Denies Involvement in Second Leaked Video

The presenter also addressed claims linking her to another viral video.

She categorically denied being the woman captured in the second footage, stating that the video does not feature her.

Ama Parone urged the public to stop associating her with the clip, warning against creating false narratives. She insisted she had no involvement in that video and would not accept responsibility for something she did not do.

Ama Parone also dedicated part of her statement to her godfather, Rexford Kwaku Ntim, popularly known as DJ KA.

She described him as someone who played a crucial role in her media career by opening doors for her when no one else believed in her.

She expressed sadness that both of them are facing public scrutiny at the same time and prayed for God to grant him strength, peace, resilience and the grace to overcome the current challenges.

She encouraged him to remain strong, saying he should not be defined by his mistakes and expressing confidence that he would emerge stronger from the ordeal.

Concluding her statement, Ama Parone thanked everyone who had supported her with prayers and encouraging messages, saying their kindness had helped her through difficult days.

She also addressed those who had spread false information and mocked her, saying she chooses healing instead of retaliation.

“I am not perfect. But I am growing, I am learning, and I am determined to become better every single day,” she stated, ending her message with the words, “May God bless us all.”
