Otto Addo Includes Five Newcomers in Black Stars Squad for 2025 Unity Cup

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has handed debut call-ups to five promising youngsters ahead of the Unity Cup 2025, set to take place in London.
The new faces include goalkeeper Joseph Tetteh Anang of St. Patrick’s Athletic (Ireland), Abdul Aziz Issah of Barcelona Atlètic (Spain), Aaron Essel of North Texas SC (USA), Caleb Yirenkyi of FC Nordsjaelland (Denmark), and Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini, who features for Union St. Gilloise in Belgium.
Each of the five players brings a unique skill set to the squad and will be eager to make an impression as the technical team continues to shape the next generation of Ghanaian football.
Joseph Tetteh Anang, a former England U-20 international, has previously featured for West Ham United, Stevenage, and Derby County. His consistent performances have kept him on Ghana’s radar in recent years.
Midfielder Abdul Aziz Issah and defender Aaron Essel are both graduates of the Ghana Premier League and have represented the Black Satellites, including at the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. Issah now plays in Spain for Barcelona B, while Essel is currently with North Texas SC in the United States.
Caleb Yirenkyi, a highly-rated prospect at Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, and Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini, who has impressed in Belgium with Union St. Gilloise, round out the list of debutants.
The five players are expected to join the rest of the squad in London this week as preparations begin for the four-nation Unity Cup tournament.

Thomas Partey Confident Ghana Will Secure Spot at 2026 World Cup

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars’ ambition to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions boosted their chances of making it to the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, with consecutive victories in March.
Wins against Chad and Madagascar propelled Ghana to the top of Group I, currently holding 15 points with four matches remaining in the qualification campaign.
Speaking to 3Sports, the Arsenal midfielder shared his optimism about Ghana making their fifth appearance at the World Cup.
“As players, we are determined to be at the World Cup again. We experienced how amazing it was last time, and we want to be there once more. Hopefully, we win the remaining matches and secure our spot,” said the 31-year-old.
The Black Stars are set to reconvene in September for Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures against Chad and Mali.
