Nobody is telling the current NDC government not to go after corrupt or criminal individuals in the past NPP government. No well-meaning Ghanaian is against accountability.

If anyone, regardless of their political colour, caused financial loss to the state, stole public funds, or abused their office, the law must deal with them. That is what the rule of law demands. Ghanaians voted for accountability and they deserve to see it.But accountability must not become political persecution.

If we are truly serious about fighting corruption, then the principle must be universal. Anybody who is corrupt must face the law – be it an NDC government official, an NPP member, or any other person. Corruption has no political colour. A thief is a thief, whether they wear green, black, red or white.

What Ghanaians do not want to see is selective justice. We do not want a system where you are prosecuted because you are NPP, but protected because you are NDC. That is not justice, that is witch-hunting. And witch-hunting does not build a nation, it only deepens division and makes the next government also come after its opponents.

Go after the corrupt. Retrieve the looted funds. Jail those who deserve to be jailed. But do it with clean hands. Do it through due process. Do it with evidence, not propaganda. And let the same energy be applied to anyone within your own government who goes astray. That is how you will earn the respect of Ghanaians. Let this serve as a clear and unmistakable warning to every National Democratic Congress appointee occupying public office today. Power is transient. It does not last forever. The power you wield today is not your personal property – it is a public trust given to you by the people of Ghana.

Any act of corruption, criminality, abuse of office, or looting of state resources WILL be accounted for. Ghanaians are watching, we are not asleep. Every contract you inflate, every cedi you steal, every state land you grab, and every abuse of power you engage in is being recorded. Do not be deceived by the praise singers around you. Do not think that political power will shield you forever. The same law you are using today will be used against you tomorrow. The same institutions you are weakening today will be strengthened to hold you accountable.

History has taught us this lesson over and over again. Those who looted before you, where are they now? Those who thought they were untouchable, how did they end?If you are in office to serve, serve with honesty and humility. If you are in office to enrich yourself, to punish your opponents, and to loot what belongs to all of us, know this – your day of reckoning is coming.

The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yahya Salifu, has questioned why businessman Henry Okum remains free while Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is serving a 20-year prison sentence, describing the situation as selective justice.

Addressing a phone interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kessben Maakye show in Accra, Salifu said party members were deeply saddened by Wontumi’s conviction, explaining that the event was organized to register their displeasure over the court’s decision.
“We were grieved to hear that Chairman Wontumi had been given a 20-year jail term. That is why we organized this press conference to demonstrate our displeasure,” he said.

Salifu also endorsed comments previously made by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, who described Wontumi as a political prisoner.
He argued that if Wontumi had been found guilty, then Henry Okum – whom he alleged admitted involvement in illegal mining activities—should also face prosecution.
“If Wontumi is guilty, then Henry Okum should also be found guilty and jailed,” Salifu stated.

According to him, Okum was “home eating fufu” on the day Wontumi was sentenced despite his alleged involvement in the matter.
The NPP youth organizer further claimed that legal experts had explained that holders of large-scale mining concessions are legally permitted to authorize third parties to operate or extract minerals from their concessions.
He maintained that Wontumi possessed genuine documentation covering the mining concession in question and questioned why Okum, whom he described as a third party, appeared to have been left out of the prosecution after allegedly entering a plea bargain.

Salifu concluded that the circumstances surrounding the case raise concerns about equal application of the law and called for all persons connected to the matter to be treated fairly under Ghana’s justice system.

Renowned evangelist Dr. Lawrence Tetteh has called on Ghanaians to avoid living in offence and bitterness, warning that harboring grudges can rob people of their purpose, relationships and even their destiny.

Delivering a speech during the wreath-laying ceremony and 14th commemoration of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, Dr. Tetteh stressed that “offence can make you lose your inheritance.”

According to him, offence is one of the enemy’s greatest traps because people will always criticize others regardless of what they do. He advised that becoming easily offended could cause people to lose valuable relationships, respect and loyal supporters.

Dr. Tetteh noted that offence breeds division, disloyalty and unnecessary conflicts, adding that those who have benefited from someone’s kindness can eventually turn against them when offence takes root.

Drawing lessons from the Bible, he cited John the Baptist, saying offence and disappointment can affect a person’s outlook even in difficult moments. He also referenced Moses, who, despite leading the Israelites out of Egypt, did not enter the Promised Land, urging people not to allow offence to derail their God-given assignment.

He further warned leaders not to let criticism from followers distract them from their mandate, emphasizing that reacting to every provocation only weakens one’s focus.
“If you want to stand like H.E. Atta Mills, live an offence-free life,” Dr. Tetteh said, encouraging Ghanaians to use their positions to build friendships rather than create enemies.

The annual wreath-laying ceremony was held to honour the memory and leadership legacy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, who passed away in office 14 years ago.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced significant progress under the government’s flagship “Big Push” infrastructure programme, revealing that 13 major road projects have reached at least 50% completion as of the end of June 2026.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Statement, the Finance Minister described the Big Push as Ghana’s largest and most strategic transport infrastructure initiative in recent years, covering all 16 regions of the country.

According to him, the programme is currently being implemented in phases and includes 74 trunk roads and bridges, 10 urban roads, and three feeder roads aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activity nationwide.

Dr. Ato Forson disclosed that six road projects have already exceeded 75% completion, while another 15 projects have progressed beyond the 25% mark, signalling steady implementation across the country.
He highlighted major corridors where construction has advanced significantly, including the Kasoa–Winneba, Takoradi – Agona Nkwanta, Ofankor- Nsawam, Tema–Aflao, Tepa–Goaso, Adentan–Dodowa, Wenchi–Sawla, Kpeli–Aflao Atimpoku – Ho-Aflao, Tumu -Lawra, Tumu–Navrongo, and Winneba–Cape Coast–Takoradi roads.

The Minister also noted that work is progressing on the Suame Interchange Phase Two, the Kumasi Outer Ring Road, and feeder road projects within the Eastern Corridor–Volta Trench, which are expected to improve access to farming communities and markets.

He said government will accelerate work on projects nearing completion during the second half of the year by removing bottlenecks to ensure they are delivered on schedule.

Dr. Ato Forson further reaffirmed government’s commitment to the Accra–Kumasi Expressway, describing it as a flagship project that will span 176 kilometres with six lanes connecting Ghana’s two largest commercial cities.
When completed, the expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Accra and Kumasi to about two hours. He added that as of June 2026, the Ghana Armed Forces had cleared 122 kilometres of the route, representing approximately 70% of the required distance.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government is developing a 1,200-megawatt combined-cycle gas-powered plant at Kafodzidzi in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality.

Speaking during the midyear budget review in Parliament, the Finance Minister said visibility studies have confirmed the project’s viability, with environmental, engineering and permitting processes already completed.

According to him, the first 600MW phase of the project is expected to become operational in 2028, marking a major milestone in government’s efforts to boost electricity generation capacity.

Dr. Forson disclosed that to cut project costs, the government secured gas turbines directly from the manufacturer, GE Vernova, instead of using third-party procurement channels. He said the approach is expected to deliver cost savings of between 35% and 45%.

He added that once completed, the project will significantly reduce electricity generation costs, paving the way for a 10% to 20% reduction in electricity tariffs.

The Finance Minister also revealed that the first phase of the project is expected to create more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing a major boost to employment while strengthening Ghana’s energy security.
