Nobody is telling the current NDC government not to go after corrupt or criminal individuals in the past NPP government. No well-meaning Ghanaian is against accountability.

If anyone, regardless of their political colour, caused financial loss to the state, stole public funds, or abused their office, the law must deal with them. That is what the rule of law demands. Ghanaians voted for accountability and they deserve to see it.But accountability must not become political persecution.

If we are truly serious about fighting corruption, then the principle must be universal. Anybody who is corrupt must face the law – be it an NDC government official, an NPP member, or any other person. Corruption has no political colour. A thief is a thief, whether they wear green, black, red or white.

What Ghanaians do not want to see is selective justice. We do not want a system where you are prosecuted because you are NPP, but protected because you are NDC. That is not justice, that is witch-hunting. And witch-hunting does not build a nation, it only deepens division and makes the next government also come after its opponents.

Go after the corrupt. Retrieve the looted funds. Jail those who deserve to be jailed. But do it with clean hands. Do it through due process. Do it with evidence, not propaganda. And let the same energy be applied to anyone within your own government who goes astray. That is how you will earn the respect of Ghanaians. Let this serve as a clear and unmistakable warning to every National Democratic Congress appointee occupying public office today. Power is transient. It does not last forever. The power you wield today is not your personal property – it is a public trust given to you by the people of Ghana.

Any act of corruption, criminality, abuse of office, or looting of state resources WILL be accounted for. Ghanaians are watching, we are not asleep. Every contract you inflate, every cedi you steal, every state land you grab, and every abuse of power you engage in is being recorded. Do not be deceived by the praise singers around you. Do not think that political power will shield you forever. The same law you are using today will be used against you tomorrow. The same institutions you are weakening today will be strengthened to hold you accountable.

History has taught us this lesson over and over again. Those who looted before you, where are they now? Those who thought they were untouchable, how did they end?If you are in office to serve, serve with honesty and humility. If you are in office to enrich yourself, to punish your opponents, and to loot what belongs to all of us, know this – your day of reckoning is coming.

Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has strongly denied reports suggesting he is interested in acquiring the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO), describing the claims as false and malicious.

In a statement issued by his Special Aide, Rafik Mahama, the businessman rejected allegations made during a demonstration organised by the Labour Union of VALCO, where some protesters reportedly claimed he intended to take over the state-owned aluminium company.

According to the statement, Ibrahim Mahama has no interest in acquiring VALCO and has not made any offer to purchase the company.

The statement further described the allegations as the latest in what it called several attempts to tarnish Mr Mahama’s reputation and question his integrity in the public domain.

It emphasised that the businessman has built a strong reputation through legally established and acquired businesses, noting that his companies operate in full compliance with Ghana’s laws.

The statement added that the longevity of his businesses, which have remained successful through seven election cycles, demonstrates their credibility, professionalism, and adherence to legal and ethical standards.

“Ibrahim Mahama remains committed to contributing to Ghana’s development by investing in business opportunities both within the country and beyond,” the statement said.

It also revealed that the businessman has instructed his lawyers to begin the necessary legal processes against those responsible for publishing and spreading the alleged false claims.

The statement was written by Rafik Mahama, Special Aide to Ibrahim Mahama, under the heading “False Media Publication of Takeover of VALCO by Mr Ibrahim Mahama.”

Tension has erupted in the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after some party members reportedly locked up the constituency office in protest against the suspension of Constituency Chairman, Stephen Ofosu Agyare.

The aggrieved members say the chairman was suspended for five months by the party’s regional and national executives over alleged misconduct said to have tarnished the image of the NDC.

According to the group, members identifying themselves as the Zongo Ward, dressed in red attire and head bands stormed the party office at Kasoa, locked the premises, and openly challenged anyone to retrieve the keys if they had the courage.
The protesters later marched to the chairman’s residence, insisting they would not hand over the office keys until the suspension is revoked.

They further alleged that the disciplinary action stemmed from a petition filed by the constituency Member of Parliament, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, over what they described as continuous attacks and inflammatory comments made against her since she assumed office.

The petition reportedly accused Chairman Ofosu Agyare of defaming the MP and creating disunity within the constituency.
The supporters argued that the suspension is a calculated attempt to prevent the chairman from contesting the party’s upcoming constituency elections expected in September, a move they say they will fiercely resist.

They also claimed that individuals opposed to the chairman are behind the suspension.
Meanwhile, the police have reportedly invited one of the individuals involved in the incident for questioning as investigations continue.

Regional Tribunals have received overwhelming public support, with 63% of Ghanaians approving the government’s proposal to establish the new judicial bodies, according to a fresh poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.

The findings come at a time when the legislation establishing the Regional Tribunals is awaiting presidential assent, following parliamentary approval.

The nationwide survey revealed that only 19% of respondents oppose the creation of the tribunals, while 17% remain undecided or have no opinion on the matter.

63% of Ghanaians Approve Regional Tribunals

The Longitudinal National Telephone Tracking Poll – Baseline conducted by Global InfoAnalytics shows that nearly two-thirds of Ghanaian voters support the establishment of Regional Tribunals.

The poll results indicate:

• 63% approve of the Regional Tribunals proposal.
• 19% disapprove of the initiative.
• 17% have no opinion.

The results point to significant public backing for the proposed tribunals despite political discussions surrounding their creation.

NDC Supporters Record Highest Approval

The survey also highlighted differences in support levels among voters based on political affiliation.

According to Global InfoAnalytics:

• 82% of NDC voters support Regional Tribunals.
• 55% of floating voters approve the proposal.
• 60% of supporters of other political parties back the initiative.
• 45% of NPP voters support the establishment of Regional Tribunals.
• Among voters who did not reveal their political affiliation, 48% expressed approval.

The findings suggest that while support is strongest among NDC supporters, the proposal also enjoys backing across different political groups.

Nationwide Poll Covers All 16 Regions

The Global InfoAnalytics survey was conducted from July 15 to July 24, 2026, involving 7,761 registered voters across Ghana’s 16 regions.

The poll was conducted with a 99% confidence level and a margin of error of ±1.5%.

The research forms part of Global InfoAnalytics’ longitudinal tracking project, which measures changes in public opinion every two months on key national issues.

Public Debate Continues Over Regional Tribunals

The proposed Regional Tribunals have generated political and public discussions, with supporters arguing that they will improve access to justice and strengthen regional-level adjudication.

Opponents, however, have raised concerns about implementation and the possible political implications of establishing new judicial structures.

With majority public approval recorded in the latest survey, the debate over the future of Regional Tribunals is expected to continue as government moves toward implementation.

24-Hour Economy has emerged as the lowest-rated government policy in a new nationwide survey conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, raising concerns about public perception of one of President John Dramani Mahama’s flagship economic initiatives.

The 24-Hour Economy policy scored 4.2 out of 10 in the Longitudinal National Telephone Tracking Poll – Baseline, placing it at the bottom among six major government programmes assessed by Ghanaian voters.

The survey measured public views on key government policies and programmes, with respondents rating each initiative based on their level of confidence and satisfaction.

According to the Global InfoAnalytics poll, the ratings for the government’s major policies were as follows:

• No-Academic-Fee Policy – 6.1/10
• $10 Billion Big Push Programme – 6.0/10
• Tax Reliefs – 5.8/10
• National Apprenticeship and Adwumawura Programme – 5.5/10
• Women’s Development Bank – 4.6/10
• 24-Hour Economy – 4.2/10

The results suggest that although some government programmes have received moderate public approval, the 24-Hour Economy is yet to convince a significant number of voters about its impact and implementation.

Public Reaction to 24-Hour Economy Policy

The 24-Hour Economy was introduced as a major economic strategy aimed at expanding productivity, creating employment opportunities, and encouraging businesses to operate beyond traditional working hours.

The policy is expected to support industrial growth, increase economic activity, and provide more job opportunities for young people.

However, the latest poll indicates that public understanding and confidence in the initiative remain lower compared with other government programmes.

Mahama Maintains Strong Approval Rating

Despite the low rating of the 24-Hour Economy, the Global InfoAnalytics survey showed strong approval for President John Dramani Mahama’s overall performance.

The poll revealed that:

• 72% of respondents approve of President Mahama’s performance.
• 21% disapprove.
• 7% remain undecided.

The survey also found that 60% of respondents believe Ghana is moving in the right direction, while 28% believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
