Rick Ross Arrested in Miami Beach on Domestic Violence-Related Charges

Published

on

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — October 2, 2026 — Rapper Rick Ross was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday after police investigated allegations of domestic violence involving a woman he had been living with.

Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, voluntarily surrendered to Miami Beach police and was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces a felony charge of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanor battery charge, according to police and court records.

What police allege

According to an arrest affidavit reported by CBS News Miami and ABC News, the allegations relate to an incident said to have occurred on August 28 at Ross’ residence on Star Island.

The woman told investigators that an argument began after Ross questioned her about an Instagram photograph. She alleged that he struck her several times and restricted her breathing by grabbing and twisting the collar of her hoodie. Police said she later provided photographs documenting injuries.

The woman reported the alleged incident to police on September 29, about a month after the date described in the affidavit. Investigators also said they reviewed surveillance footage connected with the woman’s departure from the residence.

Ross denies the allegations

Ross pleaded not guilty through his attorney. His legal team has rejected the accusations, saying he was wrongfully accused and asking the public not to prejudge the case while the judicial process continues. Ross also said after his release that he was innocent and described the allegations as fabricated.

A judge set his total bond at $5,000 and ordered Ross to have no direct or indirect contact with the accuser. The court also imposed additional conditions while the case proceeds.

Next court appearance

Ross’ arraignment is scheduled for October 22, 2026. The case remains pending, and the allegations have not been established as facts in court.

Ross has been a prominent figure in hip-hop since the release of his 2006 debut album Port of Miami and is known for the hit song “Hustlin’.” He also founded Maybach Music Group and has received nine Grammy nominations.

Let Women Breathe! – Moliy Calls Out Online Body Shamers

Published

on

Ghanaian singer Moliy has addressed the relentless criticism women face online over their bodies, questioning when society will finally allow women to feel comfortable in their own skin.

The singer, in a post shared on X on October 1, 2026, highlighted what she described as a never-ending cycle of criticism directed at women over their appearance.

According to Moliy, women are pressured to look “perfect”, only to be criticised when they decide to enhance their bodies. She noted that the scrutiny does not stop there, as women can later be mocked or judged for growing older.

Moliy wrote:

“So y’all bully women to look perfect, shame them when they enhance their bodies, and the cycle continues; they grow older, they’re still criticised for ageing.”

She questioned when women are actually allowed to embrace their bodies without facing judgment, pointing to childhood as a period when people may feel less restricted by society’s beauty expectations.

Moliy also had a message for those who use social media to attack others over their appearance.

“It’s not of God to shame those who are made in God’s image. Remember that when all that wants to spill out of you is hate and criticism.”

‘GFA President Must Be Sacked’ – Criss Waddle Demands Kurt Okraku’s Exit After Black Stars Defeat

Published

on

Ghanaian musician Criss Waddle has aimed at the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the Black Stars’ shocking 4–2 defeat to The Gambia in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The Black Stars appeared to be cruising after taking a two-goal lead at the Accra Sports Stadium, but a dramatic collapse saw The Gambia score four times to complete a stunning comeback.

The defeat has triggered fresh criticism of the team’s management, with Waddle questioning why successive changes in the coaching department have failed to produce a lasting turnaround.

In a post on X on September 30, 2026, the rapper called for GFA President Kurt Okraku to be removed from office, arguing that the blame should not continually be placed on coaches.

Waddle pointed to the number of coaches who have been dismissed or replaced under the GFA’s leadership, arguing that the Black Stars’ struggles have persisted despite the changes.

He wrote:

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed or sacked at least over 10 head coaches in the past years, yet our football trajectory still hasn’t changed. Why do we still blame coaches… GFA president himself has to be sacked.”

Criss Waddle believes the time has come for the GFA leadership to answer questions over the Black Stars’ continued struggles.

“I need to get to a good place mentally” – Moliy postpones Europe and UK tour

Published

on

Ghanaian singer Moliy has postponed her upcoming Europe and UK tour, which was scheduled to begin in October 2026, saying she needs to take some time to focus on her wellbeing before returning to the stage.

The singer announced the decision to her fans on social media, explaining that she wanted to be transparent about why the planned shows would no longer take place as originally scheduled.

Moliy, whose full name is Molly Ama Montgomery, apologised to fans who had already made plans around the concerts and thanked those who had purchased tickets and supported the tour.

“I need to take some time and get to a good place mentally so I can give you the best version of myself,” she said.

She explained that taking the break would allow her to return to performing when she feels ready and is able to give audiences the quality of experience they expect from her.

The singer did not announce new dates for the tour at the time of the postponement.

She, however, assured fans that the concerts would eventually return and maintained a playful tone while addressing her supporters.

“Get those waists ready because we’ll be whining all night,” Moliy told her fans.

She also indicated that tickets for the postponed shows would be refunded, meaning fans who had already purchased tickets would not be left to wait indefinitely for replacement dates.

The postponement affects Moliy’s scheduled BADDIES EU/UK TOUR, which had included dates across Europe and the United Kingdom.

Ticketing information for some of the previously scheduled European dates now shows the concerts as cancelled, including planned appearances in Copenhagen and Berlin.

Moliy has built an international audience with her blend of Afrobeats, dancehall, R&B and soul, and rose to global attention through the viral success of “Sad Girlz Luv Money”, her collaboration with Amaarae and Kali Uchis.

Her music has also earned recognition beyond Ghana, with the Ghanaian-American singer developing a growing following across Africa, Europe and other international markets.

The planned tour was expected to give her European and UK fans an opportunity to see her perform live following her continued growth on the international music scene.

However, Moliy has now chosen to put the tour on hold while she takes the time she says she needs.

The singer’s decision has also brought attention to conversations around the pressures faced by touring musicians, who often have to balance performances, travel, promotional commitments and personal wellbeing.

For now, fans are waiting for an announcement on the new dates for Moliy’s European and UK performances.

Until then, the singer has asked supporters to remain patient as she takes the time to prepare herself for her return to the stage.

Wendy Shay breaks silence on viral Lasmid video: ‘Everything has been blown out of proportion’

Published

on

Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has explained the viral moment in which she was seen removing fellow musician Lasmid’s hand from her thigh, saying the incident has been exaggerated on social media.

The moment sparked widespread reactions after a video surfaced online in late September 2026 showing the two artistes seated together on a couch. In the clip, Wendy Shay is seen moving Lasmid’s hand away from her lap as they prepared for a shoot.

Some social media users criticised Wendy Shay, with some claiming that she had embarrassed Lasmid and should apologise publicly. Others turned the incident into memes, joking about how the singer may have felt after his hand was moved.

Speaking on DJ Slim’s podcast, Wendy Shay gave her side of the story and insisted that there was nothing dramatic about the incident.

According to Wendy, she only moved Lasmid’s hand because she wanted to sit comfortably on the arm of the couch, but there was limited space.

She explained that Lasmid was already occupying the couch, and she wanted to sit on the armrest so they could get a better position for the video shoot.

“Everything has been blown out of proportion. If you look at the couch, he is sitting on the couch, and I wanted to sit on the armrest of the couch so I could also sit comfortably for the shoot, so we could get a nice video,” Wendy Shay explained.

The singer also said her decision to physically move Lasmid’s hand was possible because the two artistes share a good rapport.

She suggested that she would not have felt comfortable making such a gesture if they did not have that level of familiarity.

“We have that rapport. That’s why I asked him to take his hand off,” she explained.

Wendy Shay maintained that the brief interaction should not have been interpreted as a serious confrontation or an attempt to embarrass Lasmid.

The two musicians recently teamed up on BendOva, an Afropop collaboration that has been attracting attention and further bringing the artistes into the spotlight.

Rex Omar Leads Black Star Fashion Week to Spotlight Ghana’s Fashion Talent

Published

on

Ghana is set to take the spotlight in fashion, culture and the creative economy as the maiden Black Star Fashion Week (BSFW) prepares to bring together designers, creatives, investors, industry players and fashion enthusiasts for a two-day national fashion experience.

The initiative is aimed at discovering emerging talent, creating opportunities for players in the fashion industry and showcasing Ghanaian creativity to audiences beyond the country.

The event is being organised under the Presidency-backed Black Star Experience Secretariat, led by the  Presidential Staffer for the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar, playing a key role in the initiative.

The programme is being supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and its agencies, including the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Creative Arts Agency.

Black Star Fashion Week will unfold through two connected experiences in Accra and Senchi, moving from industry discussions and talent discovery to a major fashion and cultural celebration.

The first day of the programme is scheduled for November 4 in Accra, where the Black Star Fashion Summit will take centre stage.

The summit will provide a platform for designers, fashion entrepreneurs, creatives, industry leaders, investors, buyers, manufacturers, policymakers, media practitioners and other stakeholders to engage in discussions about the future of Ghana’s fashion industry.

The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, fireside conversations, masterclasses, industry presentations and practical workshops.

Key areas to be explored include entrepreneurship, branding, digital marketing, textile innovation, manufacturing, fashion finance, export readiness, e-commerce, artificial intelligence, sustainability and intellectual property.

The summit is expected to provide participants with opportunities to exchange ideas, develop new skills, build industry connections and explore avenues for expanding Ghanaian fashion locally and internationally.

A major highlight of the Accra programme will be the 16-Region Designer Programme, which will bring emerging fashion talents from across Ghana onto one national platform.

Each participating designer will be required to develop a creative fashion interpretation inspired by their respective region.

Their presentations will draw on the identity, culture, heritage, local materials, craftsmanship and contemporary design language of the regions they represent.

At the end of the Accra programme, five designers will be selected from the participants.

One of the five finalists will then progress to the flagship fashion show at Senchi, allowing the selected designer to present on the major Black Star Fashion Week platform.

The second day of the programme will take place at Royal Senchi on November 7, where the Black Star Fashion Show and Experience will be held.

The Senchi programme will extend beyond the traditional runway, with a Fashion Village forming part of the overall experience.

The Fashion Village will feature designer showcases, retail, textiles, artisan experiences, brand activations, beauty, technology, food and beverage, tourism and lifestyle experiences.

The event will also showcase the relationship between fashion and Ghana’s broader cultural identity.

Visitors will experience elements of Ghanaian music, dance, textiles, craft, food, storytelling, heritage and visual arts, creating a wider celebration of the country’s creative and cultural heritage.

Black Star Fashion Week will also recognise outstanding contributors to Ghana’s fashion ecosystem.

The event will provide opportunities for designers and creative businesses to connect with buyers, investors, manufacturers, retailers and other industry stakeholders through networking and business engagements.

The organisers are positioning the initiative not only as a fashion showcase but also as a platform for talent development, industry collaboration and commercial opportunities.

The Black Star Experience (BSE) is a Government of Ghana initiative focused on culture, arts, tourism and creative engagement.

As a national, year-round platform, it brings together Ghana’s cultural, artistic, tourism and creative offerings with the broader objective of strengthening Ghana’s identity and promoting the country as a preferred global destination.

The initiative also seeks to position Ghana as a leading cultural and creative capital of Africa.
