Asantehene destools Kenyase No. 2 Chief, Odeneho Dadeako Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, after the Asante monarch ruled that the chief had breached key Asante customs and traditions.

The decision was announced during a meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on July 27, 2026, where Otumfuo Osei Tutu II reportedly stated that the chief’s actions were inconsistent with the responsibilities expected of a traditional leader and custodian of Asante culture.

Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, who had served as the Paramount Chief of Kenyase No. 2 for nearly 89 years, was reportedly the longest-serving paramount chief in the Asante Kingdom before his removal.

Reports indicate that the destoolment also affected some kingmakers within the traditional area, who were accused of violating their oaths of office. However, some council members, including the Kontihene, were reportedly spared, while certain linguists and other officials were reinstated.

According to reports, the Asantehene accused the chief of creating an unauthorised traditional position known as Hyiawohene, arguing that such a decision was beyond his authority and contrary to Asante customs.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is said to have reminded Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio of previous warnings regarding his conduct and decisions within the traditional area.

The Asante monarch reportedly questioned the chief’s authority to establish the position, explaining that traditional structures within Asanteman must be respected and preserved.

“You were a courtier at Hyiawohemaa’s house, so how can you create that position?” the Asantehene was reported to have said.

Otumfuo further accused the chief of failing to uphold the values attached to his stool and stated that repeated counsel and warnings had not resulted in a change of conduct.

Following the ruling, the traditional process of destoolment was carried out, including the removal of the chief’s footwear, which forms part of the customary procedure. Individuals appointed to complete the necessary rites were also instructed to perform the required rituals to bring the process to a conclusion.

The removal of Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio brings an end to a reign that lasted almost nine decades and highlights the Asante Kingdom’s continued commitment to enforcing traditional authority and cultural regulations.

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has opened up about the reason behind the breakdown of his once-close relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy.

Speaking in an interview on the Brunch podcast, Shatta Wale claimed that some of his former associates allegedly spread false allegations about him, which affected his relationship with Burna Boy.

According to Shatta Wale, he stopped working with some members of his team after noticing that they were damaging his image and relationships with influential people.

“I had this team I was working with, and I eventually told them I didn’t want to work with them anymore. About five or seven of these guys started calling every rich man or every important person in my life, telling them I was sleeping with their wives,” he said.

He alleged that one of the claims was made to Burna Boy, with the people telling the Nigerian musician that Shatta Wale was involved with his girlfriend.

“One of them affected Burna Boy. They told Burna Boy that I was sleeping with his girl. They literally wanted to destroy my relationships with everyone,” Shatta Wale claimed.

The dancehall artiste said he was unaware of the allegations until Burna Boy distanced himself from him without allowing him to explain.

Shatta Wale also recalled the support he offered Burna Boy and his family during a difficult period, describing their former bond as a brotherly relationship.

He said Burna Boy’s mother once regarded him as family after he helped them during their stay in Ghana.

“His mum is like my mother because there was a time Burna had a problem in Ghana. They drove from Nigeria to Ghana, and I met them, took them somewhere safe, and looked after them,” he added.

Shatta Wale maintained that he built his success through personal effort and expressed disappointment that people he trusted allegedly contributed to the loss of his friendship with Burna Boy.

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has confirmed that the burial arrangements for the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka have been finalised, dismissing reports suggesting that the funeral plans remain unresolved.

Sarah Adwoa Safo confirms Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s burial date, stating that the funeral activities will begin on Thursday, July 30, with the burial ceremony scheduled to take place at Gomoa Mpota.

Her comments follow a press conference by her brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, where he indicated that disagreements surrounding the funeral arrangements had prevented the announcement of a confirmed burial date.

Speaking on Angel FM, Adwoa Safo rejected the claims, explaining that the funeral committee had completed preparations after consultations with key personalities, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

According to her, the funeral arrangements were delayed after an earlier date set for June 25 could not proceed.

She assured the public that the funeral would go ahead as planned, outlining the schedule for the final rites.

“On the 30th of July, we will go to Gomoa Mpota to bury my late father. On the 31st of July, we will be at Independence Square for the funeral service. Then, on August 8, we will travel to Asante Mampong in Kumasi for the thanksgiving service,” she stated.

Sarah Adwoa Safo urged the public to disregard rumours that the funeral had been cancelled, emphasising that preparations were complete.

Meanwhile, she disclosed that she has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining gunshot injuries during the coronation ceremony of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has responded to claims by his longtime rival Shatta Wale that he once referred to him as “Daddy”, describing the statement as untrue.

The two dancehall stars have reignited their long-standing rivalry after Shatta Wale opened up about their past relationship during an interview, claiming that Stonebwoy was once close to him and used to call him “Daddy” before fame changed their relationship.

Shatta Wale said Stonebwoy’s rise in the music industry created a distance between them, despite their earlier bond.

“When he started getting into the media and, you know, you have talent. ‘Oh no, you’re even better than Shatta Wale,’” Shatta Wale said while discussing their history.

Daddy Lumba Greatest of All Time has once again become a major topic of discussion after Ghanaian reggae musician Ras Kuuku declared that the late Highlife icon remains the greatest musician the country has ever produced.

Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM on July 27, 2026, Ras Kuuku paid glowing tribute to the legendary singer, insisting that Daddy Lumba’s remarkable catalogue of timeless music, influence on generations of musicians, and enduring legacy place him above every other Ghanaian artiste.

According to the reggae musician, anyone who disputes Daddy Lumba’s greatness simply does not understand music.

“Daddy Lumba is the greatest of all time. The GOAT of Ghana music, no doubt about that. Anyone who argues otherwise doesn’t know what he or she is talking about. To me, and those who love and understand music, we all know Daddy Lumba is the GOAT.”

Ras Kuuku explained that Daddy Lumba achieved extraordinary success during an era when musicians did not have access to artificial intelligence or today’s advanced music production technologies.

He said the legendary Highlife musician consistently released one hit after another purely through his creativity, songwriting ability and exceptional musical talent.

According to him, Daddy Lumba became a source of inspiration not only for musicians but also for countless Ghanaians living abroad in countries including Germany, Italy and France, who proudly identified with his music.

“Way back when we had no AI and no technology to help musicians create their music, Daddy was there. He made sure that he gave us back-to-back hits. He was the main pillar, the inspirational pillar behind our fathers, mothers, uncles, sisters and nieces who were up there in Germany, Italy, France and other places. They looked up to him because of his music.”

Ras Kuuku noted that Daddy Lumba’s songs have stood the test of time because they continue to resonate with listeners decades after they were released.

Although he had admired Daddy Lumba throughout his career, he revealed that he never met him personally until he was invited to perform at the Highlife legend’s 60th birthday celebration in September 2024.

The reggae musician described the performance as one of the proudest moments of his career, recalling that Daddy Lumba stood up three different times during his performance to salute him.

“I have never met him in my personal life, face-to-face like this. On his 60th birthday, I was invited to perform, and they chose me as one of the best performers on that night. I remember when I was performing, he got up three times and saluted me.”

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Accra after a short illness. He was laid to rest on December 13, 2025, leaving behind an extraordinary musical legacy that continues to shape Ghana’s Highlife industry and inspire generations of artistes.
